Alumni's Family Testimonials

“Our Son has changed 100% after Baja Rehab, he would be a continuous police 5150, threatening suicide, holding on to drugs and aggressive tendencies, when we picked him up from Baja Rehab he has been able to recover his life, he has gone back to work, keeps his IOP program and therapist appointments, he enjoys going out again and socializing, started exercising, eating better, keeps up with his medications willingly.

The whole staff speaks English, I was able to communicate any time I needed, they are very professional and knowledgeable, and knowing our son was in a secure location gave me peace of mind.

I’m grateful for all the help in my son’s recovery and was very surprised of the progress and success Baja Rehab’s team was able to achieve for him.”

Exceptional Addiction Center for Men & Women in Puerto Nuevo, Mexico

Baja Rehab is a High-end, efficient drug & alcohol treatment center established just South of the San Diego border. One of a kind, we base our 12-step influenced program on sober camaraderie, mental health care, shared stories, families, personal experiences, healthy relationships & thrilling activities that introduce a new way of living.

Healing at the Root: Personalized Recovery in a Tranquil Puerto Nuevo Setting

Our goal is to get to the source of the problem that intensifies the reaction. In addition to providing breathtaking views on a comfortable 2-acre hacienda in Puerto Nuevo, Mexico, we strive to create genuine and personal relations with our patients and their families so that maintaining a new sober way of life can be achieved.

A New Path Begins: Transforming Perspectives and Building Accountability

The journey begins when making a choice; leaving current ideals behind, trusting in something bigger & creating a new way of thinking. We hold a responsibility to build new perspectives; to change every unhealthy thing the client was doing and instill pathways to accountability.

Comprehensive Healing: Medical Detox, Dual Diagnosis, and Long-Term Residential Care

Baja Rehab provides patients with comfortable full medical detox and dual diagnosis. Many patients struggle with mental disorders and drug and alcohol problems. More often than not, these conditions occur together frequently. Thereafter detoxification, psychiatry, and therapy will be critical alongside our calm, fun, intensive 3-6 month AA/NA-based lockdown residential treatment program.

The Gift of Lockdown: A Life-Saving Choice for Families & Their Loved Ones

Lockdown is the most incredible opportunity that Baja Rehab has to legally offer patients and their families. For anybody who is serious about making a commitment to their personal recovery, it is an intimate and life-changing decision. Unfortunately, it is also a decision that some cannot and will not make for themselves. The family now has this opportunity, and the right, to make the decision on that person’s behalf. What a miracle it is, to get your loved ones’ help and save them from possible overdose or death instead of standing by to watch them kill themselves.

Holistic Treatment of the Client

It’s not enough to merely “stop using.” That’s just the beginning. The recovering person needs to address the past and the underlying issues that can overwhelm them and may complicate their ongoing recovery. Our comprehensive program combines recovery education, psychotherapy, and medical case management with holistic services such as yoga and meditation. At Baja Rehab, the introduction of our clients to the 12-step program allows them to build a strong foundation for long-term recovery and rediscover a life filled with health and peace.

Expert Clinical Treatment South of the Border

Care at Baja Rehab is personalized and focused. Founders Adam Lincoln, Jessica Shrader and Ricardo Vega have implemented the most personal and therapeutic processes while achieving activities they have modeled based on years of recovery at the best treatment centers in the U.S. and in Mexico. The result is clinical treatment of addiction that rivals the best centers in the world at a fraction of the cost. For that reason, we are a preferred destination for people who know someone that needs help, or who have experienced a relapse, so they can get their life back in an inexpensive and extremely effective program of recovery. Many have experienced a friend, a family member or even themselves in a situation where they needed help and didn’t get it with the thought of high cost private clinics, no insurance or low grade government funded rehabilitation centers in the worst of conditions. We can help.

Interview with Adam Lincoln, Director of Operations at Baja Rehab, to discuss Baja Rehab's unique approach to addiction treatment in Mexico.

The conversation with host Benjamin Turner from Behavioral Health Innovators series, by Lighting Step, sat down provided a deep dive into the unique and holistic approach to addiction treatment at Baja Rehab. Underscoring the importance of environment, personalized care, and innovation in helping individuals achieve lasting recovery.

Empowering Families: Taking Control Through the Lockdown Process

We take pride in giving the family the option to hold the responsibility. When you check the patient in, you will be the only one allowed to check them out. Many individuals are not ready to stop; some want to stop, but won’t because they are physically dependent on the substance, unwilling, or not in the right state of mind to make decisions. The lockdown process puts an immediate halt on the addicted individual’s choice to keep using when they are not well enough to make good choices for themselves anymore.

This unique approach along with affordable high-end clinical care separates us from American institutions. Unfortunately, laws in the United States don’t allow for the lockdown of the patient. The patient is allowed to leave at will and run the risk of relapse when their brain isn’t fully healed yet. Post-acute withdrawal is still taking place in the first 30-60 days of sobriety and the tolerance level is gone therefore causing a higher percentage of overdose death rates. The longer sobriety and emotional time to recover the higher the chance of recovery and continued sobriety.

With full schedules including psychological evaluation, medication monitoring, group and individual therapy, family counseling, creative therapy, and motivating physical activities; we are focused on removing the patient from their dysfunctional environment by providing a safe and serene place to recover. The patient will not check out until the family advisor has agreed upon a discharge date with supervising staff at the end of 3-6 months. This will guarantee the client 60 days sober without interruption.

In some cases, continued care at Baja Rehab may be necessary, but in most cases, plans for aftercare, sober living, and or outpatient programs in Mexico and or San Diego will be advised for continued care. We will continue therapy with the families and patients after check out on a routine scheduled maintenance basis.

FAQs

What is a conservatorship?

A conservatorship is a legal relationship where one person (the “conservator”) has the authority to make decisions for another person (the “ward”). In the case of a mental health conservatorship, this means that you have been found to have mental illness and your rights have been taken away from you.

A guardian is someone who has been appointed by a court to take care of another person’s finances or property when there is no other responsible family member available. A guardian has limited power compared with a conservator; for example, only certain financial transactions require approval from both parties before they can be executed by one party alone–usually the guardian but sometimes also including others involved in decision-making such as doctors or therapists.

What is Dual Diagnosis?

Dual diagnosis (also called co-occurring disorders (COD) or dual pathology) is the condition of having a mental illness and a comorbid substance use disorder. There is considerable debate surrounding the appropriateness of using a single category for a heterogeneous group of individuals with complex needs and a varied range of problems. The concept can be used broadly, for example, depression and alcohol use disorder, or it can be restricted to specify severe mental illness (e.g. psychosis, schizophrenia) and substance use disorder (e.g. cannabis use), or a person who has a milder mental illness and a drug dependency, such as panic disorder or generalized anxiety disorder and is dependent on opioids. Diagnosing a primary psychiatric illness in people who use substances is challenging as substance use disorder itself often induces psychiatric symptoms, thus making it necessary to differentiate between substance-induced and pre-existing mental illness.
